
Francine Aubin (1938-2016) was a 20th-century French composer. She is remembered in the clarinet community for several pieces for clarinet and piano, a clarinet concerto, and a book of etudes, titled 12 Etude Caprices (Études-caprice).

Francine Aubin, née Francine Agnès Gisèle Marie-Thérèse Tremblot de la Croix,1 was born on February 6, 1938 in Paris and died on August 14, 2016, in Boulogne-Billancourt.
Aubin composed several works for clarinet and piano: Two pieces in the form of jazz, Un soir à Montfort-l’Amaury, and Una fioretti di Francesco. She also published a clarinet four-movement concerto, and a book of etudes. Scroll down to hear recordings and find purchase information.
Francine Aubin was the youngest of the five children of Richard Tremblot de la Croix (1889-1974), a polytechnician, industrialist, and company administrator, and his wife, née Marie-Thérèse Mauchauffée.2 She studied music theory and piano at the Conservatory of Troyes, and followed the teachings of Madeleine Dauphin, Marie-Jeanne Villemez, Geneviève Zaigue-Dupont, Raymond and Éliane Niverd, and Patéro.2 She obtained a second prize for piano, a first prize for flute, a first prize for harmony, and a first medal in music theory.3
She was admitted to the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris, where she studied piano and musical writing with Noël Gaillon and composition with Tony Aubin. 4
In 1958, at the age of 20, she won the Conservatoire’s first composition prize. She is also the recipient of several prizes: the first Grand Prize of the International Summer Academy of Nice,3 the Grand Prize for Composition of the Divonne-les-Bains International Competition, and the First Grand Prize of the International Improvisation Competition. at the piano of Lyon.2
Between 1970 and 1973, she abandoned music to devote herself to painting. Under contract with the Wally-Findley Gallery, she exhibits in France and the United States under the artist name of Tremblot. 7
